I really enjoy exploring photography, and trying to make images with my camera. As I’ve learned more about photography I’ve started to understand that it’s an exploration of self at least as much as an exploration of the world. The images that we choose to create, and how we create them tells us much about our self, our mindset, and our view of the world.
The more you try to create images the more that you have to look at the internal self, and define how you feel about the world around you, and most importantly how you understand yourself.
A couple of months ago I came across this wonderful photography blog: Broken Light Collective. They are a group of “photographers living with or affected by mental illness; supporting each other one photograph at a time.” (from their website).
Their beautiful images show us the personal journeys that we all take as we encounter the world. Their positive action in steps towards health are truly inspirational.
Photography as a positive form of support (& possibly therapy) for all of us to enjoy mental health – I love it !
